Blue Ribbon Award
June 2007

Gerry McCue
Congratulations to Ron and Lana Peoples, children Erin and Colby, of 2030 North 16th Avenue. Their home has been chosen to receive the Blue Ribbon Award.

They bought their home in Fairview Place twenty years ago as newlyweds. This house was built in 1938. The architectural style is Transitional Early
Ranch built with double-bonded red brick. The shaded small front porch adds a welcome feel to the entry. If the builder were to drive by today he would easily recognize his structure because it has been so well maintained.

Lana says they like living in Fairview Place because of the consistency of long-time neighbors. Also they enjoy being near to downtown activities.

1938*, the year the Peoples' home was built, is the same year that:
- Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia,
- Superman first appeared (in Action Comics No. 1),
- Du Pont announced "Nylon" synthetic yarn,
- Orson Welles's radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds caused quite a panic,
- the ballpoint pen was patented.

Fairview Place recipients of the Blue Ribbon Award receive a gift certificate from The Southwest Gardener, at 2809 N. 15th Avenue.

Thank you, Ron and Lana Peoples, for helping to make Fairview Place look great!
